It was almost forgotten when they renewed it and made it popular. Plastic – with a traditional weaving technique that was born 1948 and modernized by them in 1999. And you can only find the original in Dalarna, made by Pappelina. Everything is produced in Sweden. The environmental responsibility is a natural part of their quality, and is crucial when they choose partners to work with and for the company’s future development. Lina Rickardsson, the founder and designer of the company, ended up in a weaving loom, which led her on to art – and to a weaving school in Gothenburg. She started to interest herself in rough material such as linen, sacking and paper, thereof the name Pappelina. The company Pappelina was founded in 1998 when she received her first volume order for linen rugs. She searched for a weavery and came across Dalaslöjden in Djurås, Dalarna, they produced rugs, but in plastic. Dalaslöjden had a stock of plastic cuts from the Sixties that inspired her enormously, and it was also the start of something new. She wanted to design her first plastic rug and over the years she has created a number of different rugs in various colours and patterns. A couple of years later she also started to produce blankets.
