Rijkswachters | Artful Bodyguards

Rijkswachters is a project by BEEmeubels, a Dutch furniture company headed by Boudewijn van den Bosch and Niki Schoondergang. Boudewijn designs and spends a lot of his time behind his saw bench, while Niki takes care of things around it. Not only business companions but also boyfriend and girlfriend, they have 2 daughters together. They live in Haarlem, the Netherlands. BEEmeubels likes to work with materials that have lead a previous life. The wooden crates that are used to transport Bullseve glass plates or the transport crates from the Rijksmuseum, that’s the kind of wood BEEmeubels often uses. The old lettering is left on there, so that it’s clear that a piece of furniture used to be something else. Apart from the recycling and upcycling of old materials, BEEmeubels also makes furniture with a combination from old and new materials, or from a completely new material. From scrap wood to hard wood, from metal to synthetic material, from lamp, desk, media cabinet to shop design. And everything in between. Made to measure design that is created with lots of love.
