La Vie Devant Soie

Being the unparalleled globetrotter that she is, Sandy Blain rested her suitcases for a couple of years in Phnom Penh, Cambodia, to join the installation of a micro health insurance system destined for the most deprived. Being a financial engineer she sees profit in her passion for fashion by reopening confection workshops that would otherwise go to waste. That way she created job opportunities for seamstresses specialised in the weaving of silk, whose know-how would otherwise be forgotten. As a lover of contemporary art she likes to infuse her creations with poppy colours and designer shapes. In only a few months’ time La Vie Devant Soie becomes so successful that Sandy has to spend all of her time on it: her brand is launched, first in France and then very soon internationally as well. Her many travels, more specifically the ones to Senegal where she will go and live a few years later, inspire here to keep enriching her models with different fabrics, patterns and shapes. In Dakar her daughter Louise is born. The bag that carries her name becomes the brand’s best-seller: an XXL bag for mom’s to do everything with! Fashion is both a serious and fun business, therefore Sandy Blain associates, plays and combines to try and find the right balance. Over the years she became more and more convinced that what we wear influences our mood of the moment, and she designs pieces for everyday life, always with a little pzazz.
