Hive is an award winning design studio based in New Cross, London.
Hive is headed up by the internationally acclaimed designer and artist Monika Piatkowski. Founded in 1998, the studio works on specially commissioned projects, interior and exterior design, consultancy and on the creation of it own brand products.
At its heart, the studio is a place of collaboration, a place where influences from art, design, architecture and decoration merge. This blend has created a design style that is at once graphic, painterly and expressive, whilst also retaining the functional and structural rigidity often seen in architecture. Hive have also been heralded for the ease with which they approach materials, showing a willingness to experiment and a flair for re-appropriation.
Monika Piatkowski was born in Poland, but grew up in Oslo, Norway. In 1998 she founded design company Hive with architect and husband Mark Dyson. In 2001 Monika took over the running as well as the creative directing of Hive.
