PRODUCT DESCRIPTION

Originally designed in 1938 (Buenos Aires, Argentina) by architects Bonet, Kurchan and Ferrari. In Argentina, this chair is almost a national symbol, as it undoubtedly is Argentina's most famous contribution to modern furniture design. Manufacturer Knoll had production rights but gave them up in 1951 and the design is now free and there are various versions today. With its Argentinian background and 25 years of leather experience, Cuero takes this breath-taking design very seriously. When they were looking for the most ecological and yet sturdy fabric they found hemp. Later they learned that the word “canvas” is derived from the Arabic word for cannabis, a Latin word meaning “hemp”. In earlier times, hemp was often used to make canvas. The fact that their search had led them to beautiful Transylvania, home of another famous bat, completes this story. The seat and the solid steel frame are produced in Sweden.
