Luc Verelst founded the Belgian non-profit organisation SOLID in 2000. A few years later, his daughter Lyn took over. Since the millennium, the organisation has been building partnerships with local craftspeople in Peru, India and Kenya. Together with these artisans, SOLID works towards a better future for the socio-economic environment of these countries. The organisation creates jobs with safe working conditions and fair pay for disadvantaged women. These very talented women make the most unique lifestyle accessories, such as alpaca plaids, colourful rugs, patchwork sheets, trendy pillows and woven baskets.
