Danish futon manufacturer Karup Design was founded in 1972 by Preben Christensen and remains in the family’s hands to this day. One of the first of a new generation of European design firms that recognised the need for well-constructed, easy to ship furniture, Karup’s frames and mattresses easily rank as some of the best available anywhere in Europe. Produced using quality natural materials, the label’s current collection of futons can be rolled to create sofas and chairs, making them a perfect addition to homes in need of a guest bed but short on spare room.
